Spring
clean your communications to keep your business blooming
The
days are getting longer and plants are starting to burst into bud:
Spring may not be here yet, but it's on its way.
Well
into the second month of the year, now is a very good time to look
over all your corporate communications to make sure they are up-to-date
and doing the job you created them to do.
Here's
a brief list of vital Spring cleaning communications tasks to spruce
up your business:
1.
Is your web site up-to-date? Are you still advertising 2004 events?
Have you promised an update, but not got around to publishing
it? Take down all out-of-date material or publish a brief update
to show that you are on the ball.
2.
Are your special offers up-to-date or have they passed their closing
date? Make sure all your promotions are current and that old material
is removed from public view.
3.
Are you promoting your future events and products? If you're not
quick, 2005 will fly past, so make sure any events or special
dates for the year are posted on your web site, in your newsletter
and wherever appropriate.
4.
What's on display in your reception area, window or shop? Are
the latest copies of your newsletters and literature available
for visitors to read when they visit you?
5.
Is your noticeboard cluttered up with out-of-date notices? There's
nothing worse than noticeboards crammed with old posters. Take
down notices no longer relevant and replace important ones that
are tattered with new posters.
6.
Are you still distributing 2004 newsletters? Time to produce your
first 2005 newsletter and update your customers and/or employees
with your latest news.
7.
Do you still have stacks of reading material from 2004, which
you've never got round to reading? Either throw it all out or
sort through it and keep only necessary material. If it's been
sitting there unread for so many months, it can't be very important.
8.
Are your offices or cupboards full of out-of-date newsletters,
brochures or printing? If they're no longer needed, throw them
out (or recycle them, where possible) and reclaim the valuable
space they are taking up.
Spring
cleaning your communications should not take you long, but it has
great benefits.
Knowing
that everything is up-to-date, that customers are seeing only current
information and promotions and that your premises are tidy and uncluttered
puts you on a positive footing and shows your business in the best
possible light.
